What are they thinking?
Number 1 is known for his ability to talk. His mind is constantly moving. This I imagine is why he loves electronics so much, it gives him the ability to zone and stop thinking. Last Friday he informed me a cereal is a person that kills people. I spelled it that way because when I asked him what for the third time he spelled the word. He then went on to say that there are even some who eat the people they kill. This took me for a loop as he comes up with strange stuff but not quite this odd. Knowing I did not teach him this, unaware of TV viewing or book reading that would enlighten I asked where he ascertained such knowledge. He matter of fact said, "Mrs. L told us at school." What? After much questioning, it appears there was mention in a seemingly harmless book Sideways School Stories which prompted the discussion.
Tonight he made a declaration, "I don't like my name." I asked why, and he said it wasn't very comfortable, and it sounded like a girl's name. How I asked. He said Joseph liked Josephine, but the comfortable part never really was explained. When I suggested it was good that he isn't called Joseph he still said he didn't like it. Tomorrow I will see what he would like his name to be??
Number 2 pulled a fast one at dinnertime. We had ham yesterday evening which all the kids seemed to like in the past. When Dad is at the fire station, especially on a Friday we have leftovers or pizza, something easy for Mom. I decided mac and cheese with ham in it would be a way to use those leftovers with a food I know they like. Everyone ate dinner while watching Star Wars with Big Brother. After eating we had ice cream cones, but the deal was they had to finish all their meat and most of the mac and cheese. No problems, happy dessert life is good. As we prepared for bed I had number 3 do his weekly chore of emptying trash cans. This entails him gathering, me dumping and him returning. As I dumped low and behold there was a lot of ham. When I questioned all kids number 3 was quick to throw number 2 to the wolves. Tears flowed and all. Yep, times a changing when it isn't Mr. Advanced Reasoning pulling sneaky stuff. Mom needs to turn on her A-game now;)
The last observation for the night is number 4. G-ma pointed out that even her walk is bossy. How right that is, she talks bossy, she walks bossy and she is so sure of who she is the rest of the world better watch out. Today at PAT activity she crashed and it included a nosebleed and a bit swollen lip. Later after stopping the bleeding, and finishing the activity we stopped with the school nurse to clean her up a bit. As the nurse and I are talking, and cleaning she looks up and makes distinct eye contact along with saying bdhhpsspjifoifoihfoihfoa! Silence covered the room. Neither of us was quite sure if we should be offended or happy. I do believe she was telling us where to go:) Yep, I may not baby her but everyone else caters to her every need. Watch out world here she comes...

I remember when you decided that you didn't like your name. Must run in the family :)
