More random moments

Number 1 is an interesting kid. He has never followed the path of a typical child. He didn't like to get dirty as a toddler, he still dislikes finger paint or paper mache. One typical thing is his listening skills. Granted he is like his Grandmother in that he cannot multitask well. He is either excited or frustrated, content is hard to find. In the last week, he has been learning about Geography in school. He can tell you everything about the locations of the Oceans, seas, etc. He also is into the Titanic. He struggles to pronounce the word so it is quite funny. He can tell you the number of people who died, how many lifeboats were used, and so on. On the way home from grocery shopping he was enlightening Daddy. They proceeded to quiz one another. I believe they both learned something;)

Number 3 had his field trip to the pumpkin patch today. He was clingy and silly with me but otherwise was thrilled to be in school. We met Aunt Net at McDonald's for lunch afterward. She gave books for each kid to bring home. In the car, he opened his and began reading. His was a story about dump trucks. Since he cannot read he began making up this story where the two trucks were not getting along. The one truck said I hate you to the other. When I reacted with shock he exaggerated the concept. Then I began asking him questions about what he would do if that happened to him (knowing that his older sister probably has done just this), and he role-played the right response with me. Then he went back to the story and the dump truck even apologized for using "mean" words.

Number 2 is having joint pain and slight swelling and bruising as of Wed night. She has had an on-again off-again fever since last Thursday too. I will be taking her to the doctor today. I pray it is easily rectified. I miss my big helper:)

Number 4 also sat on the potty in a public restroom yesterday. She had told me but I didn't take her. I assumed she wouldn't do it as before, but when all the other kids headed in so did she. I managed to get her to sit, and when big sister flushed the commercially loud toilet she stirred but didn't freak out. It was not a long attempt but an improvement in the right direction...
