Another we never had moment gone wrong
Well, and then EVERY time I rest in my knowledge as a seasoned parent these grand kiddos of mine knock some sense into me. Today was another of those bright times. What pray tell was this current hurdle you ask? Ah.....wait for it...... head lice! More like AAaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh, head lice!!
Let me set the stage for you, it was Tuesday night and hubby was with #1 and his 3 friends doing the last day of school bday thing. #2 was playing some serious softball kicking butt and taking names. I smiled while #3 chatted away about the last day of school festivities and #4 danced around with her friend from cheer. All seemed right with the world, or at least like it was nearly summer. #2 bounced to me wearing a blue batting helmet instead of her normal pink personally owned one. I angrily asked why on earth she was wearing someone else's. She explained that another player put hers on and was still out in the field. I informed her to put the helmet back in her bag the next time it came in so this didn't happen again and forgot about the incident. Well that is until tonight.
Tonight dear reader I feel prompted to skip cheer tryout practice since I know both my girls are on the squads. Instead I was hoping to spend a few moments with my two Aunts who were kind enough to babysit my kids today. Little did I know then the prompting was not for quality time but instead to allow for the immediate care of the icky little bugs. Shortly after #2 woke up from her nap she proceeded to itch her head like crazy. Upon inspection regardless of never seeing a live lice before it was plain as day. Clear like oval shaped bug with a black dot near the center, BAM there were 2 moving like crazy. Sigh, things kicked into high gear as in retrieving lice kit, washing hair and spraying non washable items. Fit that into heading to church for a run through of this weekend's main service production and you have the remainder of my evening. That doesn't take into account washing more bedding, cleaning up, reading devotions and more. All I can say is my life is officially never dull and I am super thankful that great people are flexible in my life to help me be calm in rolling with the punches. Ok that AND that my husband will be home tomorrow to finish washing and vacuuming all rugs and furniture. This is a rare treat that I have a helpmate in the crisis, yep God has a plan and knows what we need when we need it for sure!!
Hubby continued the washing, picking up of another kit because sure enough we found some in my hair too and vacuuming of everything! My mom kindly spent 25 minutes pulling all the eggs out of my hair, the chatting while I completed #2 and #4's hair removal process. The wash wasn't even done by bedtime and took me until 2:00 Sat to complete. Seriously that is A LOT of wash. We got chores done and I now rest in the knowledge that my house is once again back to a bug and dust free home. You can be assured I will think twice before even touching any other child's hair or accessories again. Never say never and hold on for the unexpected is my new motto.
