Good or bad?

Just having watched the Cardinals lose their final game it reminded me of cheer, softball, baseball, football and more. I know but before you scoff hang in there and continue. All season every competition felt so exciting except when it came down to the awards. When they would name ***** anywhere before the coveted 1st place slot it seemed like a huge bummer. I mean seriously we never won less than 3rd place out of large numbers all the way up to 14 competitors and still it felt sad. How ironic is that?
Tonight the Cardinals played a great season, not perfect but certainly netted them within the top 4 teams yet the loss feels like it was last place. Our minds want the best of the best and less well is equivalent to last. A job well done feels mediocre. Going along that line of thinking we limit God too. We look around, and down without even considering his grand plan. Each step along the journey can't be 1st place. Sometimes the process is the journey and the award is just a place for dust to gather. Matthew 6 says: "Be careful not to practice your righteousness in front of others to be seen by them. If you do, you will have no reward from your Father in heaven."
So in this vein of thinking then I get that being consistent, using your talents and gifts to their fullest is the point. No one says great job keeping weight off 6 months after you lost it. Finding the satisfaction from functioning in my purpose, walking in it and resting assured that God sees what is unseen IS the goal. Now how do I tell my head to plaster that in every insecure moment or memory?

Thoughts???
