4 little joys for the 4th

Joy #1: Hidden treasure in my backyard
Many of you know we have 10 acres. On that land there are 2 homes, a barn, large building, pasture, lake and a bit of trees. As hubby, the girls and I were feeding the fish in the pond we noticed blackberry's. A little investigation later we found that growing wild ALL over the wooded area are tons of them. The sad part is that there also is more than any one's fair share of poison ivy/oak. But with some chance happenings I was wearing pants, socks and wrapped around me for the cooler indoors was a long sleeved zip up hoodie. I donned them all being careful to tuck everything in then went at it. 15 min later I had half a bucket full and plenty more left to pick tomorrow. We have lived here for 6 years and who knew it was probably here the whole time. The girls and I look forward to making some awesome stuff with our find soon!

Joy #2: A borrowed 4 wheeler
Thanks to my Dad and his many friends we have borrowed a 4 wheeler in the hopes to buy it or another for the kids. Well specifically one kid #3 yet I can quickly see #2 will want to share or better yet have her own. She claims to be putting it on her Christmas and bday list :) While watching them partake in the best fun of the day G says to hubby and I, "You are watching your wife right there. (#2 flies by clearly with little fear) That was my little girl, that was the kid I watched grow up!" As I smile and nod I know he is right. I guess that is why she makes me so darn happy sometimes. She isn't exactly me, I wasn't as athletic as she is but I was more than capable and dared to do anything I set my mind too. That girl is my joy!

Joy#3: Rural King
Yep you read that correctly. A store where they sell farm, garden and otherwise country style living stuff. The sales are CRAZY good and well it is just a fun place to be. The kids love the free popcorn they let you have just by stopping in and well we dream, joke and discuss our plans for our property and the future. The kids join in and add their ideas. I cannot say there has ever been a trip there that hasn't spurred something worthwhile.

Joy #4: Parades, parachutes and sick little girls
As tradition for many years we attend/walk/ride in the 4th of July parade. This year #2 was the only one who was in it, while the rest of us were spectators. It was a semi hot day with temps in the 80's but a humidity rate of 61%. Thankfully it was overcast until minutes before the parade started but sadly my sweet baby girl threw up moments before it started as well. She had complained of a tummy ache the night before and the morning, then fell asleep next to G at his house for a couple hours before we left. We were stuck in the parade so I had no choice but to snuggle that little precious gift. Hot or not I will take snuggles whenever I can! She did liven up for half of the parade catching candy and holding desperately to anything that resembled pink. #2 well they happened to stop near us and did their stunt for cheer competitions. It is quite good, and wouldn't you expect she is right in the middle of it too. All in all, sick or not it was something I would repeat for sure! Then once home and post dinner our 4th of July tradition is to shoot off the daytime parachutes and the kids take turns catching them.
