Catch all
Well its been 15 days since I last posted. It seems I had quite a run and then like everything the season hit for a slump. Don't think for a moment I haven't been here...this blank screen beginning and deleting more times than I can count. Non of those ideas made the cut, or really made the finish line. Let's just take it slow in the rewind. I am after all under power. (ie sick)
Tonight I arrive home to my sweet youngest child beckoning me to her room. The same room where she has in fact been for 25 minutes. You see she has a clear view of the driveway thanks to the double windows and sheer window treatment covering the blinds. In her ever so intelligent way she has taken to checking outside for the comings and goings of residents. We sang our traditional hush little Evangelene severely lacking because I have more than a frog in my throat, closer to two or three. 3rd story in I cut her off to make my exit when she asked why I do not feel better (I have been sick for a week now). Interrupting my reply she retorted, "If you don't get better and get mud on you, then go under water you will die and I won't have a momma anymore." Ummmm WHAT! Where on earth did that one come from? She is all about the shock appeal lately so I react very little and correct stealthy. All I can tell myself is gee, I am so glad for preschool!
Speaking of preschool I am also certain she has learned how to spell T-R-O-U-B-L-E, figuratively speaking anyway. Last Monday I was greeted by her teacher with the concerned look. Ya know the serious slightly less eye contact kinda look that confrontation brings upon people unsure about it. Apparently my sweet angel (NOT) manage to harm another child. It was unintentional or not premeditated more like helping to the point of pain but nevertheless she harmed another kid. This was one of the rare occasions when she was following the rules and expects her class to do the same. A fellow classmate was not sitting down and she "helped him" to the point of spraining his wrist. I would now ask you is this really my kid we are talking about? Except I have no doubt. Strong willed child is she! I go toe to toe with her many a day, as does her G-ma. Daddy is joining that train since she has gotten the best of him one too many times. G and a few others haven't gotten to that point yet despite my many suggestions. Once again this proves my statement, I cannot spoil her because her siblings and family (cousins etc) do.
Timeouts make no matter and neither does missing recess, ah yes friends taking away things is like a double dog dare for her, Instead one must motivate the reward for the right thing not the punishment for the wrong. A phone call back later gave them the key, 3 Popsicle sticks to be moved away like strikes and lose of dance class on Wed or treat on Mon/Fri. Wouldn't you know it worked the first day and has the 3 other classes since. She constantly ups the anty from all her other siblings combined. I am holding on to my horses!
As for #1 well his addition to the blog today is his fun facts that he imparts on any warm body. I admire his passion to share his wealth of random and unusual facts. After attending the circus (another post) he rode with two of his cousins and two aunts to our grand dinner (Mcdonalds). I enjoyed the company of the beloved cousin to #4 in our car. Much laughter commenced when we arrived at our destination and the only comments were about the massive 911 facts they were exposed to. Yet tonight on FB the oldest of the kids (14) posted the following:
The last piece of my catch all for tonight is #3. He had the game we have been waiting for all season last weekend. It was cousin vs cousin. While I had drummed it up a lot in my head and it was close but not quite to all I had imagined there was one highlight worth a good laugh. Cousin C went with he and I to his neurologist appt last Thurs just 2 days before the game. That I will explain later, but in discussing the event he turned and said to C, "I am gonna send you crying home to your momma! And I know who your momma is too!" CRACK me up!!
Man I sure do love all 4 of my crazy ever changing children. Thank goodness too!
