A flash to the past 7 years in the making

 Happy 7th Birthday Bubba (Michael)!

Last night as I lay next to my youngest son in his bed I replayed for him the night before he was born. I am not sure I have ever done such a thing and he was enthralled with the entire conversation. It was a Friday night and I was 1 week over due. Cycle break had just started as I was teaching 5th grade. My due date was Sept 25th but I was holding out for Oct 5th, my father's birthday and the anniversary of my grandmother's death. My dear husband was certain I was going into labor that day and I told him he was completely wrong. In the middle of a deep sleep something startled me enough to make me JUMP out of bead. At that very moment my water broke, and I knew it was time. Unlike times before I need not tell hubby it was time, he awoke and knew. Of course reminding me he had told me so.
G-ma headed out to stay with the sleeping two and off we went. This labor was more intense as I tried my best to last with no meds. In retrospect I do not understand why it matters to endure? Still not knowing whether he was a boy or girl we frantically scanned though girl names. Jr was the boy name. Giving in to the intense pain I received the epidural and delivered a bouncing 8lb 6oz 21 1/2in boy. It was a surprise and a wonder at how big he was. #1 being only 5 lbs 4oz 17 1/2in and #2 full term at 7lbs 3oz 20in made him like the hulk. It was a huge relief to have such a healthy little man. Shortly after being born big sister called him Bubba instead of brother and his nickname was born. Regardless of how many family hate that name I love it for it is special to us.
He is my mighty man, kind, generous and a gentleman. He will make some woman a wonderful husband someday and whoa to her if she does him wrong. Over the years he transitioned from a mommas boy to Daddy's helper. I took one for the team and stepped aside to give them that chance. He has the perfect balance between us. It is glorious to see him learn and grow into his own aside from siblings. He loves dirt, the outdoors and to "work" which he will do all day long by your side. He even asks for the opportunity. I simply cannot imagine my life without him! Here's to many more wonderful days ahead too.
