Pumpkin Chuckin'

A little bit of redneck for this country family that is just too darn much fun! Every year we buy, acquire or this year grow pumpkins (at least one per kid). THEN when Thanksgiving is over and pumpkins are not so "in" we chuck them off the deck. The Sat after Thanksgiving I though for a second they were gonna do it off the rough but Daddy veteod it on this particular day.
Back story to fill in those gaps: A few years ago (2009 to be specific) Daddy allowed #1 to join him on the roof for father/son lighting project. Honestly I do not know that year just how much help he was, but proud is the word for how he looked. He taunted the others large and mighty up there too.
A couple years later #2 got her turn and she was far bolder about her opportunity. Ya know for being the only kid who broke a bone in a traumatic slow motion golf cart incident you would never know she understands pain!
Anyway, the roof was a no go which is probably just as well. #4 would not stop short of getting up there if they all did. In fact she was mad about the whole deal because she knew I was home with the sicky boys all day and not her. PLUS she bumped her own nose while holding the pumpkin right before the picture.
NOT happy I am headed
downstairs without her

Go rockstar!
Although we have only done this for the last 3 years I am safe in assuming the kids will remember this as another "always" things. This momma is so motivated to make life about fun family traditions. #4 made her way around eventually and I even took a turn. Typically I am too interested in the documentation to do so. I will admit throwing something is quite the release.
Daddy adds it up a notch with his boy stuff as seen below. He chased the kids, teased at hitting me with the pumpkins even saying " We want to see ya dance Mommy." The problem with waiting till Dec is the pumpkins have gotten semi hard and therefore bounce a little. While that misses the effect of smashing it does make for me tossing, not so well with camera in hand back up. Multiple throws later #3 then 1 came down to do their own version of fun. This year the duck and chickens added a new dimension unconsidered, moving targets. We shood them away much but they do love veggies and fruits so were quite curious. I do not believe they were ever brave enough to taste though. Maybe tomorrow.
Daddy wins the farthest throw making it to the pond, AND the best smash when #1 bet him he couldn't break the littlest one. Mommy gets an assist because she suggested aiming for the tree.
The night ended with #1 hitting #3 in the ear by accident so boo on that. I suppose in hindsight they shouldn't have been left to their own devices when we were all cold. Alas, it was a win and sure to be a beloved tradition for many years to come.

Can you see #3 playing chicken with the
flying pumkin?

Friend or foe?
Still not sure if she likes it

Daddy! Always the jokster.
