Simple joys

Today I was called in to work unexpectedly. It forced me to miss out for the very first time in 10 years an Easter egg hunt near our home. My parents traditionally attend also, though some years Mom has been there and some not. In my place my amazing Aunt Linda was there. She is the kind of person you can count on in a time of need or just because. I am eternally grateful that my Uncle married her. Though they are now divorced she will always remain my Aunt for as long as she chooses.
I digress. While at work one of my coworkers was interested in getting DQ for lunch. Knowing that Hubby mentioned the kiddos, Aunt L and G headed there I graciously offered to pick it up. I opened the door to walk in and #2 spotted me. The look on her face was sheer joy. She jumped up and ran towards me, while the others were a bit confused. It only took just a moment for them all to catch on and do the same. I have to say it was so precious a feeling. You would have thought they hadn’t seen me for days. I guess doing the unexpected makes a difference sometimes.
My timing was God too, as it appears G has unrealistic expectations of amount of food needed to be finished so I was able to set that straight too. Today did in fact turn out to be a good day for us.
However just a short distance away a tornado struck many homes, and even took the roof off a momma friend of mine too. Perspective is everything folks. As I hope to help pick up the pieces of those who lost I hope I can hold on to these rare treats of my own.
Anything surprise treasures happen to you lately?
