the days are numbered friends
Yes they are, 12 days in fact for the "big 3" and 16 for #4 who begins the journey of school. Wow, did I just type that, really? #4 and no more, fireball quickwitted and strong has school. Preschool it is but school for sure. #1 attended preschool like she will, many days a week but at no cost due to his therapy needs and the school district providing such. #2 went one year at this same age and #3 went just 1 day a week from Oct to May the year before K She on the other hand is at a denominational church school that #3 attended just 2 years ago. It was such an amazing experience then my hopes are high for now. One teacher is new and sweet as can be at Open House tonight. True to her whole life she was surrounded by 5 other kids, siblings plus cousin K and C too. I am not sure how much she got out of the experience as they "family" took precedence. I will say cousin K convinced her to allow the teacher to take her picture which I was unable to do first. All day she phoned and voiced that we were going to her school.
As I will be returning to the work force for the first time since 2007 (everyday anyway) I am getting nervous too. Will I be ok letting them all go and sharing the day to day parenting with Daddy. I mean sick days, activities and more? I know there was an emotional toll to having an obligation beyond the home. I recall it like it was happening right now. Sick babies being snuggled by Gma instead of me. Daddy taking to the doctor because he has sick days and I don't (well that only happened once but still). Yep, being a working momma is a double edged sword I know VERY well. Yet I know it is time. I felt the transition happening this last 7 months getting my home ready and more, wrapping up projects. I cherish the last 4 years I was their everything. Growing up is so darn tough! I still get to take them to school every day sending them off with love (mostly lol).
I have high hopes to make these last days go out with a bang, to play doctor and watch little girl dance to youtube horse videos. Yes you read that right. She finds we will rock you playing in the background of a dressage horse routine on the favorites and click clicks from there. She explains she is doing her "hip hop" or her tap, or her ballet depending on the musical beat. She is willing to do this anywhere there is music Costco, Lowe's etc. Most days it is in my room in front of the computer and I am not permitted to look away..at ALL! Kids are such fast learners as she can click the mouse, navigate her way like a pro. Tonight #2 begun dance class at her new studio and #4 put on her big sis shoes and danced along. She mimiced every move and cracked up the onlookers.
#2 proved her talents as she soared with the girls who have been together since March, she learned the routine and executed it flawlessly. I am floating on cloud 9 when I get to respond to the multiple parents who say, "Your daughter is amazing. She picked that up so fast!" Yep that's my kid, working in her gifting by the father above. She soars, she responds quickly to critique without taking it personal (as commented by her current coach). That my friends will take her so far in this talent. I am beyond proud! Now if only I can find the same thing for #1 and #3. Not everyone's gifting is this obvious or this prominent but the day will come. I am sure those days are numbered too :)
I just know you will do awesome! It seems as though it would be such a hard transition, but it went so smoothly for us! Morning routines were a struggle at first, but when it came to Samantha and me, I know that it made us closer because we weren't tired of each other every day. :) Enjoy your summer. I know how special you will make it for the kids!!!
