Comics the influential reading for adolescence, lol

Baby Blues is my absolute favorite comic strip. I regularly read it and a long time ago went on a kick where I wanted to own several of the books. My oldest son gets on his kicks and took an interest in them as well. Like my previous posts when he likes something he doesn't stop short of doing it all the way. He now keeps everyone of my books in his room pouring over them in the quiet reading time before bed. He has collected several on his own and has an amazing collection. There are MANY more he wants but in time.
#2 has jumped on this train following suit of her brother even quoting to me particular examples that relate to our life or strike a cord with her. G and Gma save the daily comics so they can read them too.
Tonight tops all of his conversations regarding the comic strip. The time was 9:01, 1 minute past lights out for him. He arrives in my doorway, pauses then flops the book on our bed and says, "Is this real?"

"What?", I ask unsure. He repeats himself not understanding that 5 feet away I cannot decipher the specifics and then he comes closer dropping the heavy book in my lap.
"The Mega Mall...is that real?" he asks again.
"Let's see." opening a new tab and typing away on the computer set out in front of me. We discover that there is a Mega Mall but its in India (kinda out of the question) but the Mall of America is close.
"Cool, can we stop there on our way to Florida?"
"No", (Daddy chimes in bursting the bubble like only dad's can do sometimes).
Me, smoothing things over quickly say, "Let's look at a map of the United States so you can see."
I google that too and we make observations. He is content with waiting till next year for that vacation. Umm ok MN was not my plan but I will let it go. He did tell me he was never traveling to Florida a year ago because of the land sharks and that has changed. Course last night I had to answer a barrage of questions regarding snakes, how they see you, if he can run faster than them and where exactly they are located in relation to our travels. I do love this child, and he makes me chuckle for sure!!
As he exits the room for bed, leaving me with the book, 10 years in diapers and counting, Daddy inquires just why he is so motivated.

If you look closely you will see that the mom drops the dad off to watch football in recliners, and he assumes the kids get dropped off somewhere equally fun for them too. There surely is a buffet where they may have to close when Garfield comes in (lol his other comic favorite right now) but they will restock and open again. I (Mom) then have the whole day to myself, doesn't that sound great?
Pretty sure when we enter the Mall of America he is gonna be disappointed, but I don't mind the dream at all, HA!

** I stand corrected, maybe he has inspired a new idea after all:)

  1. There is an indoor amusement park at Mall of America plus lots of other cool things to see and do. I bet there is some sort of great game store too (ie Murder Mystery games. So he (and by extension you) may not be disappointed after all.
