pillows

not my bed but perfect example
Early in my marriage my husband discovered a quirk of mine. In the bedroom we have several pillows. You know the ones with matching pillow cases to the sheets and then the ones with fancy pillow shams, plus those extra decorative pillows just because they look oh so pretty. I have an opinion of what the purpose of each pillow is, and how they should be used. That opinion led to disagreements and then friendly teasing back in forth.
Here is is. There are 3 kinds of pillows: looking, leaning and laying pillows. Looking are those that are nothing more than decorative only for the eyes to see not the hands or body to touch. You must move these off the bed each night, or day if napping. Leaning pillows are those fancy shams also meant to stay pretty and rarely be washed. You can use them to prop yourself up if fully clothed and not dirty. Lastly, there are laying pillows meant for sleeping and typically have a pillow case that matches the sheets. These get washed regularly and can easily be replaced. Today I am reminded just why I embraced this theory on pillows.
My youngest daughter had a bloody nose in the wee hours of Mother's day. I stripped her bed of the blood stained items and put her back to sleep. Then I sprayed them all with shout and forgot about them temporarily as I was sick myself. But today, my birthday I came upon them once again. Laying her to nap (which she never did sadly) on her uncovered pillow I understood how darn important not using the leaning pillow for laying is. I am on the 3rd wash for the sham which I cannot replace and so sad it wasn't a pillow case I could have thrown away. My husband may tease asking if he is using the correct pillow but I stand on these definitions. Can me silly, but oh so right am I!

  1. Try hyrdrogen peroxide before you get rid of that leaning or looking pillow!! It should take the blood stains out without removing the color. You may have to let the pillow case soak for a bit.
