Passion

Passion is a beautiful thing. I know we are all designed for an unique and specific purpose. Many people acknowledge this purpose early on and move in that direction where as others are not quite that lucky and spend most of their lives searching for whatever it is because their gift is in the lives they touch and not one set "thing". For some it comes in the form of a career, others in service and still others for a specific time and a place. My mother says I was 3 when my purpose became clear and though I drifted a time or two I always end up in the very same place.
Teaching is what I love. In all things I end up teaching something. They say the best learning comes from teaching and that is more than true. I have gained knowledge that I otherwise would never have retained from time spent interacting and adapting to the individual needs of discovering the key to learning. Of course, that comes in many forms and many places but it is my thing. I feel it every time I enter a classroom, or teach children's church and the ideas flow out of my mouth as though they were born there. It is not me that holds that gift but God who uses it as my tool. This past Sunday was no different and though spending more time with someone else's kids usually seems more like work when that gift kicks in I am energized. Instead of the ho hum lessons we have been using for the entire 2 years I have been with this church there were a few tools that allowed me to mix things up. Inspiration from God came and flowed through me. The kids in the room ages 2 to 5 ALL interacted and were really learning. The two other workers commented more times than I can count and I walked away much more blessed than when I arrived. Volunteering is supposed to feel like this right?
After church #2 and I headed to see the movie Standing Ovation. It is basically a tween movie made of 12 year old and under girls singing, dancing and generally being young girls. We were the only people in the theatre at the 11:20 show. The movie was all for her, amateur acting and all. She loved every second of it. In fact she came alive during the dancing parts. I believe my eyes observed her interaction more than the screen itself. Yes, this is her passion. She has been dancing since she was 3 and made great strides along these 4 years. I am not sure what she can do to glorify God with it but I do know she can go far if she so chooses. Besides dancing she too pretends to teach, care for babies and animals. She is her mother's daughter.
As for my other kids...well I have some ideas and their interests are all over the board but none can be pinpointed like this one. #3 comes closest with his love for construction equipment, planes and all things driven. But as for future plans well childlike dreams of being a pilot well... only time can tell.
