What do you see?

One of my kids favorite car time activities is discussing what they see in the clouds. I cannot pinpoint the exact time this tradition started but I can say without a shadow of a doubt it was #1 who began it. Some days it is animals, and shapes others it is Star Wars figures because he relates everything to that.
Last week #2 was sitting up front with me (don't harass about the dangers, she uses a booster and the seat is all the way back). There was no other children in the car and we were enjoying some tunes. A song came on that said call on Jesus. She asked me to elaborate about some of the words. This is a regular thing lately for her, for example she requested an explanation of what I mean when I say I do not have any money. Back to the topic, in the song discussion she interjected that #1 would say call on Jesus even if you fell off a 100ft cliff. Hehe, he probably would. That child is a born leader no doubt! As we both chuckled from the realness of her statement she noticed the fluffy white clouds engulfing the blue sky. Commenting to such degree of interest I pulled over and looked myself. Continuing the observation she said it looked like God made a giant piece of paper and crumpled it. In amazement I listened and determined her description was in fact completely perfect. In the silence we looked a bit more, then sensing the need to keep moving I turned back onto the roadway. She twirled her head around at the sky and said, "But how does he make them move? God is a great draw__er."
My youngest son joins in the conversation fun also. He is thoughtful, deductive, intelligent, calculating both in good ways and bad but struggling with being a boy or a baby. He trips and tumbles daily achieving wounds constantly proving what little boys are known for. He can go from capable to folding in a heap of tears faster than you can blink. One minute he is taking care of me, rubbing my back and the next simply needs a hug. In a flash he is arguing and lazy yet taken care of the smallest details before I instructed him to think about them. I do hope the growing both physically and mentally levels out soon as Kindergarten is merely 3 weeks away.
While traveling in the car with him he informed me of several things. I do not recall #2 making blank random statements like my boys rather rules type thoughts. I am not certain if #1's influence that has created this mental reasoning or is the mind of a man but I revel in this stuff none the less. 2 such statements stand out for me to share with you. First, he said that snoring is not appropriate because it wakes people up. Second, food places are not for handstands. Well, I am so glad to know you have rationalized this do's and don't, lol!
I will miss his presence at home dearly. So will #4 who is in for a rude awakening when everyone but me has left. She rules the world getting her way with all!! Children disperse her requests so that more is achieved for her selfish soul and I tolerate the middle ground. Whoa to us both.
Kids are: random, unpredictable yet consistent, expensive, precious, loving, naive and a zillion more adjectives I cannot begin to name. My life would not be the same without them regardless of what I say or think in an emotional whim. As I sit here 30 hours from V day (vacation day) Lord let me hold on to this emotion so I can keep it light and memorable in the best of ways.
Ok first "selfish soul" haha too funny I love that description. I think this happens with all babies of the family it's like a syndrome my own baby sister who is 10 years younger than me has this same aspect to herself.
ReplyDeleteI agree kids are amazing and wonderful and great and a serious trial but defintly worth the "trial by fire".
