Pink is in the air

Today was an interesting day to say the least. I mean I could have sworn that the idea of being a SAHM means that I would actually get to stay at home. But instead it means I am busy, much busier, flexible to many people's needs including my own (kinda).
Yesterday I had the pleasure of hosting a play date for 11 such SAHM's and 15 kids. It was busy, yet a pleasure to enable them all to get out and interact in a safe environment. We chatted, played and bonded a bit more than we can on the website we are almost all members. After the clean up I realized that my oldest son's eye was no longer just bloodshot but swollen, red almost pink. Pink eye! BUMMER! This child has a goal of having perfect attendance just once in his school year. With 4 quarters to do so one would hope. Yet, obstacles are always in the way such as this one. I am so sad for him, and motivated to do everything in my power to prevent tardy's and interruptions in the future quarters.
Middle kids off to school via G (yeah me) allowed #4 to get her love of all, a ride on Foxy. It appears that this will become a several time a week tradition as long as G-ma is available and we are home. " I carry Foxy?!" she retorts over and over. In fact while reading her current fav book from vacation "That's not my pony" she reminds me of her admiration. Happily we complete the days ride and head out to the doctor visit. Alas, my suspicions are correct pink eye is the diagnosis.
Prescription in hand we head to Target for it. I was blessed to clip a coupon for a 10.00 gift card with prescription purchase. My oldest and youngest readily strolled through the dollar spot equally excited about our "finds". Is it sad that 10.00 felt like a shopping spree? They have such cool homeschool/teacher style stuff that I simply hate to pass up. Final decisions made and checked out we make one last top before #1 has his wish of the day, Sonic.
I swear that child could eat the entire menu if I'd let him. The even greater bonus was the weather, sunny and barely 80 degrees meant we could sit outside at the tables. We have never done this before and he was elated I agreed. It is amazing what kids want to do. Rock, paper, scissors was the waiting time game including #4 even who only did paper. She was as cute as ever too. Then watching her dance with the music being played singing hands to the roof (woof). This is actually from VBS but is pretty funny to hear. Once food was delivered a hush fell over the crowd. Despite refusing to eat the apples and caramel I go as a chaser to the fries (not a lot for a food allergy kid to eat) it was glorious. We won't talk about her throwing the minute piece of apple I attempted to make her eat clearly saying she would not eat it, otherwise such a sweet time with the two.
Leaving them at home, one napping and one addicted to electronics (G next door ready and waiting to be beckoned:) I headed to pick up #2 and #3. Alone time between schools allowed for #2 to spill her guts about her day. Love was in the air, kinda. Two of the 3 close friends had told her if she kept saying hi to the boy who informed me he liked her they would tell him she liked him. Apparently she forgot or chose to ignore (a little unclear) and followed through. Now he keeps saying he can't believe she likes him and she as a typical girl is making a big deal out of not. Geez, we are only in 2nd grade here! Just the beginning of the fun to come.
Lastly #3. He is feeling big, and proud with regard to school. Having older siblings makes him compete to keep up. Rummaging through his backpack he gets out the 3 color books that he made to read to me. Listening, while driving including being asked to look back and "see" many times is tricky. Thanks to mirror it is possible though. While reading the red book he said, "I colored this what is it again? Valentine just for you because I know you love red and hearts." Melt my heart right then and there huh!
Yep, this day was overflowing with pink. Colors, emotions however you look at it at some point today was beyond glorious. I am a lucky lucky momma that is for sure! May your next day be filled with pink too!
