Bits and pieces

Image
This post will cover many bits and pieces of our December. It has been jam packed already with fun things, and I have been VERY slow about accomplishing shopping. Part of that is attributed to my side of the family not celebrating until Jan 9th and partly because I am trying to stay within my financial means, and lastly because I just can't seem to pull myself away from being a mom to do anything else. I did however enjoy several moments in time with my favorite far away friend (just cause I LOVE all the f's in that), and courtesy of her get my hair cut too. Otherwise that is it, no Mom's night out, no meetings just kids and me. First we attended our first and probably last Candy Cane hunt. While a grand idea the temps outside made for a bitterly miserable waiting game. The actual hunting deemed just ok thanks to jack frost and his wind. The pictures are priceless simply because the pain that we endured to get them. Next we visited Santa for the second time o...

Random questions the kids ask

While driving home from cheer littlest stops singing along with the radio to ask, "If Daddy cuts off my pinky can I still go swimming?" Ummmmmm While enjoying the rare treat by youngest son of sitting next to me (in the little pickup truck) he announces, "I am going to own a truck. G says when I am big if I fix the red truck I can have it. I will fix it all by myself...well I will need someone to start it for me so I can watch everything working correctly. But other than that I will do it myself, All that is wrong with it is a battery. How much does a battery cost?" Meanwhile I am processing that the vehicle will be 25 years old when he is 16 and more than likely illegal because some alternative fuel/system will be required. But my answer instead is hmmmmmm On the first day of the Olympic games littlest and I were watching the live streaming of swimming finals. It was the men's 400IM where they do each stroke. While watching the back stroke I told her they w...

Having 4 kids means

Having 4 kids means a pleathora of things. They can make me crazy to the brink of questioning my existence and then shift fast enough to induce whiplash and melt my heart at the deepest core. They are all that I am, all that God gave me and the essence of what is ahead. * teaching them about housework via chores WILL make you want to run far far away, either that or make them all disappear, it will NOT actually get ANY part of the house clean and will require a level of patience you didn't even know was possible *Unless they are asleep, quiet is a nonexistant words. 4 children cannot ever, no matter what you do speak softly in a group conversation *will not sleep through the night at the same time until the youngest is at least 2 maybe even 3. At that point it will still randomly be interrupted *When any of them who are boys/disorganized girls become school age and near/in middle school you will TRULY lose your hair (what doesn't begin falling out) from the organization l...

Evangeleneism's

In honor of my youngest daughter whom seems to captivate our household. Well and a dear friend Wrainbeau who reminded me that the last in the birth order does hold an interesting place within any household. When I hear the light come on I will get up. I didn't write on the wall, it was Michael. Why does it spell your name? "He wanted me to know where I am supposed to sleep." Tell the truth, why did you write your name 4 times across the wall. "Well that was when I was little, last week."

Life and times unfinished

Tonight I am gonna take my own advice and write. You see a sweet lady I work with is having her first baby. In my standard tradition I gave her a journal to write in about baby and the growing up stuff. In the last few days littlest has been sick. Because of that she slept in the chair in my room. Tonight after a super horrible night last night she seems to be better. Yet she had a tremendous fit when I informed her she was back to the regular sleeping arrangements (top bunk of her brother's bed). SO now she is chattering to me in the chair. Her current topic is "Mom, I don't like my boyfriend Brody." Sigh, silly girl! Next we watched Miracle on 34th street for the very first time as a family tonight. Littlest well she proceeded to give me a makeover the entire time after using facial wipes to clean my face in between rounds.

Catch all

#3: "My mouth is empty." I reply, "I'm sorry if we can get you something to drink." "Good cause my mouth isn't making water anymore." LOL Jan 2013 "I am going to send this horse back to Santa and get something else." I suppose Santa has a return policy? Police obsession 152 "What do they do when you are in jail?" IDK why I ask. "Do they cut you in half? NO! "If they did then Jesus could come and use glue to put them back together.

Updated kids conversations

Annabeth says to Evangelene as she looks at a 'note' that E wrote. "I don't know what this says, but here I will write something in YOUR language." To which Daddy asked What IS her language? The morning before Annabeth went on a field trip to the conservation dept farm, for 4th grade, I asked her what she thought they were going to do there? Her reply, "They are gonna kill a pig, take its heart out for us to see and then we get to eat pork for lunch. YUM!" THAT is surely my husband's child!! Evangelene and Annabeth's cheer competition got moved because of rainy weather. It was supposed to be Sat at Six Flags but now its Sunday. When I broke the news to littlest she of course cried. Then she said, "Why can't we build something for it. We can build an ark to keep the rain away." Last weekend while taking a walk in the woods with the 3 oldest children it was nothing short of CRAZY. As we headed deeper in I cannot recall which boy...

Big kids still make you giggle

It has been a LOOOOOONG while since I last typed anything here. Funny thing is I first created this blog with the hopes that others would share my journey with me. But since the effort it takes to get others to notice you went out the window I just wrote for myself. Then life got the best of me and I stopped writing all together. Feeling nostaglic I peeked back over what I once wrote. It was so bittersweet. Now J is 16, A is 14, M is 12 and E is 8. Gone are the days when I could readily entertain. BUT when I laid with the younger 2 just as they went to bed I realized the window is not fully closed. I enjoyed E telling me how she despises the description of her like pumpkin. I tell people at 8 pm she turns into a pumpkin, because well she has always needed to go to bed on time. Many nights she would tell me she was going to bed if I wasn't prompt about bedtime. Alas, I laughed while promising I would try my best not to say again. More like I won't say it in her earshot. I ador...

My not so little anymore Little Man

Image
Yesterday was #3's 6th bday. For barely over 3 1/2 years he was my baby, but at an young age he demonstrated his whit and ability of deductive reasoning and observation. This led to grouping him with the older 2 and thus became the big 3. Many times over the years I have forgotten just how old he was 4, 5 or even now 6. That is until he becomes whiny or clingy and *snap* back to the reality that he in fact was still little. I anticipate just like his older sister when he becomes a fluent reader (just a very short time away) there will be nothing to hold him back. Look out #1, he is coming straight for you! I am pretty sure I have said it before but having 4 kids gives me an interesting insight on the relationships of parent/child. I have 2 sons and 2 daughters. Though the jury is still out on my youngest daughter (all of my kids swayed to me first as babies/toddlers), the boys however can be defined. #1 loves me, will offer to cuddle when sharing an electronic, game, show or th...
