When opening the internet window I see this article and it made me smile. Check it out by clicking here #1 was born with an extra finger. Apparently this is common but many are simply extra skin and no bone. He has a bone but it does in fact share the knuckle with the pinky finger. In many ways it is not perfect but it how he was made. While there is a delicate balance between living in this world and conforming to it we never really had the notion to get it removed. Sure insurance would pay for it, funny because it is purely cosmetic. Yet it seems well unnecessary. Years ago I recieved much judgement for "torturing" him as he ages. But in that I knew in my heart it wasn't for the best. He endured SO much in his short time with more invasive procedures. Anyway, 10yrs later we visited a surgeon who verified it was growing normally and not impacting the function of his hand. Now an outpatient procedure I allowed my son to make the choice himself.
