its all in how you look at it
SO, not sure I mentioned I am on a calm, patient, natural consequences momma train. As in I am trying my level best to get there. No I mean REALLY I am trying more than ever. I admit today was the first day in at least 3 I think that I did raise my voice beyond stern. I did not loose my cool completely nor did I say anything unfair (which I typically don't anyway but we are all human). Instead of letting my lack of sleep, ( 3 hours to be exact due to a shift at dispatch last night), I organized my kitchen cabinets. No not my dishes but the other cabinets, ya know the ones with all the spices, sprinkles etc. Yes ma'am and maybe sir I sure did. But to add the cherry on the pie I even did so while making 5 kids french toast (sleepover friend) too. Ah HA! I was feeling quite proud if I do say so myself! In turn this helped me be flexible with the literal disaster that hit my living room, dining room classroom and entire downstairs! See, aren't they so pretty? Ok well I know not all of you care about order like me, amuse me or something and say wow like ya mean it K. :)
Anyway, from that point on my day fell in place mostly. Then we have the usual kid moments which make me smile and pray I can take a mental recording of the moment as to never forget to innocence. Enroute to church via dog walking job for my mom theboys brothers were in the backseat. This has been a routine thing lately since we noticed Transformers and Star Wars have crossed over to be combined in a few toys. FINALLY there is a common denominator they can share happily. Me not noticing what they are or are not doing am sitting with my eldest daughter flipping through music and singing along. Side note a find it more than ironic that when left alone with said daughter we spend most of our time not talking whereas the boys will talk my ear off and then some.
I digress..... Anyway, #1 pops his head up and says, "Mommy when you have your armor of God on nothing can hurt you right?" I reply, "It's not that you will not get knocked down for example like G-ma and her knee. Instead it's that you will still be able to stand up and win the battle in the end. You can't be knocked out, just down and even that won't last forever." "Ok. So Michael then my ship has the armor of God around it so you can't attack." Chuckling from my seat, "Umm #1 I don't think that is exactly what the Bible means." J retorts so quick it makes my head spin, "Well then I found a loop hole." Alright, I just cannot argue with that!
Later, #4 and I sang our typical Hush Little Eva song and less debate on being safe and sleeping alone later I walk back to put some clothes in the dirty basket. There I find this......
Sigh, there will come a day that I won't step on cars, trucks and dolls. There will come a day when I don't have so many hugs and kisses to give. There will come a day when the house is this quiet at 11am as it is at 11pm. Oh how I wish I had understand just how much I do now way back when. I have been a mom for 11 1/2 years and though there are many, many, MANY more to come. I really do recognize that any day some things will be my last. Dear Lord help me to capture all these things, staying aware of just how to look at it!

Those are some mad organization skills. An empty shelf even!
ReplyDeleteyour blogs are always so happy and positive! I do love reading them they remind that life is prescious and not to be taken for granted. I laughed till I cried when I read the armor of God debate. How awesome that they are taking these things in.
