How would you respond?

Feeling a bit like I just conquered the world (after feeling beaten down all day that is).. I am sitting here. Why you ask? I shall share....
Oldest son (who should have been in bed), was doing his typical stalling tactic. I am never quite sure if he is looking for some "adult time" or trying to see what I am up to. As he appeared at the top of the steps for the 3rd time he told me how he is tired of being the last kid picked in PE. In that instant I was not quite sure how to respond. I started off typical mumblings of being sorry, someone has to be picked last, I am proud of you for still trying etc. He expanded to only one time at this school and 2 times at his previous was he not last. He even added it was because another kid was in the bathroom. Then he headed back to bed.

I completed my before bed tasks and made my way back to his room feeling certain I got a D+ on my response. When I walked in I noticed the fumbling of bedding and asked him to hand over the electronic device. Smart momma that I am waited him out before he smiled and gave me the ipodtouch. Score 1 for the all knowing me!! THEN kneeling by his bedside I asked him if he would like to do something about always getting picked last. He said yes and then I reminded him that it would mean actually doing something ie exercise. He agreed not even batting an eye. So right there we made a plan together. I told him that I needed help being active too and we decided on Tues, Thurs and one day on the weekend we would do his therapy exercises. Not only that but we would do something aerobic for 20 min also rotating it randomly as to increase different muscles.
Wish the both of us luck!

Now a funny quip from my youngest daughter while at cheer comp yesterday:
After driving through several small towns and one lane bridges we arrived at the destination. The song break your heart was playing and she pipped up in the back. "That's me Mommy." It is a boy singing so surely she doesn't mean her singing. "No Mommy that is me. I am gonna break the heart." Immense laughter from big sis and myself until she adds, "What does break the heart mean?"  Big sis replies, "You will understand when you are a teenager, right Mommy." Yep daughters so true!
