Tooth Fairy and all things cute

Littlest is well, she is 4. If you have kids, or have ever been around little kids you sure know there is an expiration date on adorable. I mean yes it is possible for an 8 year old to still be sweet, but cute..an innocent... not so much. Having been through this 3 times over I am so keenly aware of things beginning to end that I just hold on tighter. Perfect example is this... she is my shadow and while other kids annoy me with there lack of personal space I just want to snatch her up in a giant hug much of the time. Well that is when she is not openly disobeying me in a war of wills for sheer personal enjoyment on her end. Today it has been rainy, and humid. The temps reaching into the 70's on a late Jan day lead to most people's bad hair day. Not littlest, her curly red hair forms itself in the most beautiful way. The cross between curls and waves edging her face perfectly. Her eyes even seem to be brighter. I can't get enough of that precious face.

She had to get a tooth pulled at the dentist. Long story short after a windy road of dentist, pediatric dentist after pediatric dentist we finally found someone who would treat her effectively and timely avoiding a surgery solely for the doctors ease and pocket book. Two of her friends have lost a tooth and being 4 this is a bit early for the tooth fairy so she had her in. The tooth itself has gigantic roots and looks uber cool to a teacher in helping her class learn through real life. It took a great deal of negotiation for her to allow "us" (Daddy) to write a note requesting to keep the tooth. Her mind struggled wrapping around the details that she still would profit. I dropped the ball mismanaging my time in picking up just the right last first tooth fairy visit. But gracefully I found a pair of earrings to stick on the note from the fairy, along with some pink glitter money, and a pink ring. She is very much into rings to be more like me.
All night she discussed what fairy ,as she called her (just drop the tooth in the name its not important), would do, how she would get in and if she could sneak a peak of her. She asked Annabeth if you could feel her hand going under your pillow. Annabeth explained that you may feel her lift your pillow but you must keep your eyes closed and pretend to be asleep or she wont leave you a present. The funny thing is I don't recall inscribing these rules into their minds???
In the morning there were tears first because despite knowing what the note asked her tooth was still there so she assumed that meant no present. Daddy again rescued her and they found the present together. She was disappointed in what she received. At first she seemed just ok with it all, but later in the day she kept saying that's all she got. How sad she isn't satisfied with such because that is the most any child in our house has ever received. Sissy tried to explain and that seemed to help some but I sure wish I knew what it is she thought there would be?
Either way it breaks my heart to carry her in my arms in to bed, to snuggle with her and Michael on my lap knowing this time is about to end. 5 is creeping upon us, with that Kindergarten begins and then it truly is the beginning of the end. I adore chatting with my older kids, especially my oldest son now 12 closer to 13 than 12. But well, the love in a innocent child's eyes is a sight to behold. I know like the days I felt the new life growing inside me I may remember it but can't have it ever again. To the future ahead is where I will try to turn my gaze, well that and on all that surrounds me these days. Life feels like a cycle of the same with hardly a second to revel in the here and now. Getting older, growing up myself or with my kids is such a tricky thing to do!
