Perception is everything, and BFF's

The car tends to be a brainstorming discussion place for the kids and I. Well specifically Joey. Over the years we have discussed Heaven and Hell (although Joey used to only call it ing. I think he had such respect for how bad the place was that he didn't even want to say the word Hell). We have debated why the sky is bue and the grass green. We have determined shapes in the clouds and if in the distance a tornado could be spotted. But last night Joey decided to make observations about people.
It all started from his school day. He said in class his teacher had asked them to hold up fingers to show the answer to a math problem. The answer was 6 and he held up his left hand which has 6 fingers. The teacher of course said #1 that is 5, when he said no she looked again and said Oh yeah. He went on to tell about how several kids think it is cool he has 11 fingers but some don't. I then quoted my mother in saying that he was uniquely created for a divine purpose. As we began comparing things that make others unique he pointed out Eva has 2 teeth that make her look like a vampire. Yes, she has her two eye teeth which as a baby are pointy but a vampire huh?
Another day #1 was talking about how life was better when it was just him and #2. He refered to #3 as his pesky brother. I am guessing he picked up that word from a book, it was funny to hear. That would be a pretty good description of his brother in truth. Right now the two of them are at odds with one another. #3 wanting to be as big as #1 and capable of the same privledges. They have a love/hate relationship where they each bug the other. Yet they will play Star wars together too. Next year when all 3 are in school will be very interesting to see how they evolve again.
#2 has hit a new milestone in her school career as well. She now has an official BFF. Her friend Gracie whom she adored in K and has been to our house several times, as well as one sleep over at Gracie's house gave her half of a BFF bracelet yesterday. It is silver with a little pink heart and the word Best. She said Gracie's has friends on it. They are not in the same class this year but somehow they always find one another. Tonight I will be taking the two of them plus two other girls roller skating, and to Pizza Street. I am sure there will be more than one story left to tell there.
Until then...................

  1. i'm always amazed at the relationship that unfolds between siblings. They are equally best friends and bitter enemies. when i think of my relationship with my sister it's so complicated and yet simple and beautiful. Just know that no matter how many fights they have they will have an equal number of strong, funny, moments to recount as well.
