additions and redecorating

Anyone who knows me can tell you that I get bored with things staying the same too long. I can safely say this trait comes directly from my mother. As a child I would come home from school to find the whole house rearranged on a regular basis. It never shook my sense of security but I suppose effected how I view the home. Needless to say being a SAHM has led to a certain amount of restlessness within my home. In the last year I redid the guest bathroom and Michael's room. In making the changes I took down the wallpaper border. #4 was in fact present and aware of such activity since it was only a month or so ago. I don't recall letting her help but well she witnessed me. I take full credit for my naive mode at that time.
So, knowing that bit of information combined with the series of events in the past week (spraying food colored water on walls, oil dumped while "helping" G, cat food mixed with water and more) sets the stage for more trials. Today Daddy was on Eva duty. I was off subbing at the school I used to teach. All went well which kudos to him for making it to nap! She was put to sleep as a typical day, with one exception. There was no argument or crying. She doesn't usually yell for long but another hug, book, drink or kissy is common. He said it was quiet and calm. He went about his free time like any other person would. Except all was far from calm. In her room she carefully began to peel away the top layer of her rose border within reach of her crib. It must have peeled off nicely because there was little on the long wall where her crib sits still attached when I got home.
She never really explained why she did it, however when I informed her I was mad about it she rubbed my back. I can only guess that a part was lifted up and this spurred the amazing memory she demonstrates. She did say at one point she looked and I wasn't home. That will teach me to leave huh? I now have her crib in the center of the room so she cannot reach the blinds, pictures or window treatments. She already climbs in to bed so it is a matter of time before she climbs out. I pray that doesn't happen before her bday!
On a much happier note #2 was promised a swing in her room some time ago. Again those close enough know I am collecting ideas for crafts, and activities every where I can. One such chance I clipped a page from a magazine on a swing in a child's room. It looked very simple and hubby agreed to take it on. Typical man fashion a bazillion months later he decided to put it up on the day of her friend birthday party. She couldn't have been prouder and well bragging rights added to her big head for the day. It even holds me but then the rope is rated at 129 pounds and thankfully I am just under that. Knowing that fact I think I will leave my test run at a one time thing just in case...

  1. I love the swing in the room thing!!! She looks so happy to be on it too.
As for Eva I watched that documentary Babies last night and i noticed that everytime the dads were left alone with the toddlers that's when the toddlers would destroy thier environment..lol. I even mentioned to Phillip see it happens in every country around the world..the dad is left alone with the kids for a day and the moms come home to a disaster..LOL
