Updates and funny conviction

Tonight I enjoyed yet another drive with my oldest son but also my oldest daughter. The future is a big theme around here in case you haven't noticed. #1 added another component to his plans..he will be a Senator then President. He told me then he will move us all to the White House. I am guessing being in 4th grade learning the process of gov't is probably the cause of such ideas but this is not the first time he has determined this future either.
I asked him what he planned to major in while in college and in between college and being a Senator what else he would do. He stuck with working in contruction as a wrecking ball operator but I couldn't help adding he should think about how he could rebuild too. People who vote like to see what good you can do too. This got him thinking in a new direction. He wanted to know all the causes that he could take up. That is where we ended. Stay tuned because that child never ceases to amaze me in his detailed mind.
#2 well she is stuck on wanting to be famous. I on the other hand am trying to instill the idea that being famous isn't only about music, and tv but about who you are inside too. She is talented, beautiful and athletic. The world outwardly values all that she has but well who you are is more than that and if nothing else I strive for her integrity to speak louder than her physical traits. She told me that when she is a famous singer she will let Daddy and I sit in the front row. I guess for that I should be thankful. I said well #4 might want to be in her band and she felt that #4 would think she was the best sister ever because she would let her be a backup singer. At that point she even offered for me to do the same. But not the boys, because you know Daddy just cannot sing. Ha! As long as she isn't singing about things that I don't agree with more power to all that.

On a separate note her and I discussed this while heading into a store to pick up the last item for tomorrow night's MNI (Mom's night in) which happened to be Tequila. I have never purchased Tequila actually so while standing in the aisle longer than I hoped (8 yr old daughter by my side) I called my husband. He may once have been affluent in such things but since we have been married he is a social Bud Light man most of the time. He walked me through it a bit and I finally found what I was looking for a bit shocked at the sticker price. Feeling a bit uncomfortable that this was the only item in my hand and child by my side who do I run into but my old Pastor and his wife. Nice! I rarely drink, in fact the only time I have drank in the last 5 months has been at these once a month gatherings. I babbled about my inexperience and laughed at the irony of my purchase and timing, they giggled at my uncomfortable emotions. I am a 33 year old woman, buying alcohol does not make me a bad person, or Christian. Funny how things get to me sometimes. I guess I am not as sure of being all grown up on this one huh? :)
Nevertheless I do look forward to whatever my kids do in life, dreams can and do come true. How many times will they morph between then and now, that is the real question?? But for tomorrow well I will enjoy the company of some great women and well an adult drink or two in moderation too.

  1. Uh hello lush?!? I beg to differ, you have had alcohol outside of your moms gatherings in the last 5 months. Remember my birthday celebration? Uh-huh denial is the 1st sign of a problem, ya know.
