for the love of books
Books, books, books. Board books, picture books, easy reader books, chapter books, fiction books, WWII books, parenting books, just for fun books, Bible books and on and on... In every room including the bathrooms there are books. Each kids has multiple shelves of books and even the bathroom has multiple reading level options should you so choose. As of today the downstairs eventual kitchenette area bookshelves are loaded with all the chapter books stashed in my "when I go back to teaching" stash too.
Ever since I was young I have loved to read. That did not disappear with age to say the least. I tend to read with a purpose, as in all areas of my life. I enjoy fictional books but with my lifestyle I fill the small amount of free time a day with other options. Currently I am reading a book by Shelia Walsh about prayer along with several other parenting books. On top of that I read several magazines mostly for the short articles and crafty ideas. From the day I knew I was finally going to be a mom I began reading on parenting and that has never changed as kids grow and present new more interesting challenges than before.
But beyond that I have to say not so hidden away is my absolute love of children's literature. I couldn't possibly have enjoyed any college class more than that with author Nancy Polette. My goal was to earn my master's degree in Library Science because the idea of being surrounded by Children's lit was exponentially wonderful. I gladly took in all the books my mother saved from my childhood (as one of her jobs was in a bookstore warehouse). Then I gathered more and more especially in the classroom since what do teachers need but books.
I recall hosting a Usborne books party once and the lady doing the "show" didn't have to do much because I did it all for her with enthusiasm. That is the only in home sales I could ever do. Anyway, as of late #1 is inspired by his teacher for many things. TV shows such as Little House in the Prairie are one example and for that I cannot thank her enough because it is a wholesome wonderful show. Along with that book series they have delved into Judy Blume and her Fudge series. I had picked up Double Fudge on CD to listen and follow along with last summer. All the kids loved it but now after his teacher read another he is determined to read them all. He cracks me up with the all or none mentality about things but sadly I am missing the first two books Otherwise known as Shelia the Giant (which I don't recall ever reading) and Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing which I cannot believe I do not own. Here I come Amazon on this one:)

yeah most of our books are in boxes in storage because I don't have shelves to hold them all. Do you have the Magic Treehouse series? We are reading those at bedtime right now with Gavin. So far he loves them which I was surprised by because they are really more for older kids but he loves the stories and doesn't care that there aren't a whole lot of pictures. Of course Magnus's favorite book in the whole wide world right now is Dr.Seuss's Foot Book. I love books in all thier many forms.
