Le Chateau Colbert is now vacant and on...

My dear faraway friend has come and gone once again. This round of her time in my home was unlike the others. We had opportunity to relax and enjoy each other's company without children/husband each day. Many times that doesn't happen at all during her stay so absolutely unique, and an excellent reminder of how and why we remain such close friends. It is also ironic because my other favorite family guest typically is here during this same time frame. This year she will be joining us at the end of the month. I do hope she is prepared for the chaos that marks 7 children in my home for winter break:)
Since being married I have been able to open my home to many guests, whether it be for a day or for several nights too. I enjoy almost all parts of such hospitality (well except the cooking, but since my kids must be fed another person makes no matter) and would have never guessed that God blessed me with such gifting. Cause let's be real folks I get crabby too, lol.
I feel so very blessed that people want to spend time at Le Chateau Colbert. I feel like I get more than I give in return often if not always too. The age old thought that giving is far better than receiving rings true too I suppose. But all these reflection (while mopping the floor I might add) lead me to another thought. What are my children learning from what they see? I can hear my own ideas, explanations or deduction of my life/childhood and I wonder will they get what I mean? Or will they tell their future spouse how their mother was crazy for doing so? Will they be inspired by my generosity or will they say it left them lacking in some way? Often I spend hours, days, weeks and months on gathering ideas and preparing activities to drive home character in these children I am charge. Will it be for not, as in they didn't need all that I do? The appear to enjoy most of my process.
Am I the example I am wanting to set? I am 33...wow 33 what have I done or become with those years? What will I do with the vast amount of time I have left? I have past 1/3 of my life so far. 1/3..assuming I live to 100 which also sounds ridiculous too. Ugh, how do I get from one train of thought to the next like this anyway? Am I the only one who does this? Why can't my husband think in one line, let alone follow the path I just typed? On that note why can't he sweep the floor, or wipe off the counter when he feeds them dinner and I am at work? Oops, I derailed the train there didn't I.
Anyway, my home is back to normal again. Well as normal as hosting another child 4 or 5 days a week and 2 more in 2 short weeks can be.........but this is in fact my normal:)
