Pictures are worth a thousand words
I am a passionate person if you haven't already noticed that is:)
Words and music are my lifeline and in that pictures are what assist in my storytelling. My scrapbooks are priceless memories that I would run back in a fire to retrieve FOR SURE! Working in the emergency service field/having a husband who is a firefighter causes you to think through what would I do in a fire kind of situations. Taking out the fact that I most certaintly would get my children to safety foremost, my scrapbooks, memory cards and the like would be next. They are all in one spot easily accesible to an outside door and multiple windows. Yep, thought out the escape plan that well.
I normally go for a weekend away where I spend approx 6pm Friday night through 2 or 3pm Sunday doing nothing but cropping. We are talking 5 hours sleep maybe 6, 3 breaks for meals which lasts no more than 30 minutes and a shower, or work out squeezed in there too. I get one years worth of work done, as in my albums are completed for one years worth of time. Anyone who does this knows that this is quite an accomplishment. My lifestyle doesn't allow for me to sit and remain focused long enough to get a much done throughout the year otherwise. I go back and look over those stories and it brings happy and sad tears to my eyes. Here is my story in the flesh, to be touched, felt and shared. My kids add an even greater element as they relive the moments too.
But this year I will not be attending. It has become more social drudgery than creative outlet, of which puts a damper on my ability to produce things which I cherish. I am terribly sad about the loss of such opportunity, but to go and get little done would be worthless too. So here I sit scanning the last of my visual story praying that somehow it will still all come together. I wish I had a friend locally (cause there is so much "stuff" to travel with me) whom I could stay with, scrapbook away from my kids who need so darn much and visit with to eat meals and banter with together. I have a hook up for a weekend crop next year (as in 2012). Patience I suppose wouldn't hurt me to practice either...
The story will be equally wonderful even if it doesn't get documented today. Someone help me remember the end goal. Man, the lessons I teach my kids (well try too) and ones I guess I better get used to myself huh?
