CRAZY kids wishing for summer!

Yesterday we set up our pool. It was barely 50 degrees, drizzling rain, overcast and just plain miserable. Mind you the week before (a mere 3 days) it was 90 degrees so go figure, I must live in MO! Anyway, in order to have the pool setup for my oldest son's birthday party on the last day of school there was the no time like the present. Normally when we do this as the pool fills the kids all get in and have a blast sliding, and playing like a slip and slide in a way they won't be able to do again when it is completely full. But no surprise this did not happen yesterday.
I suppose the anticipation of impending summer, 7 days left of school or beyond they walked in the house and beg, plead and on and on to swim. I refreshed their memories that it was not even full since I know it is not going to be warm tomorrow either but they do not care. I tell them to ask their dad who never says yes, but simply repeats, "Why are you asking me?" They pounce on the lack of negative feedback and get their swimsuits on. Lathering up with sunscreen, certain this whole ordeal will be humorous to document I chuckle. Hubby grabs a book, me a camera, and phone for video and outside we go.

Good afternoon from the sleeping baby girl who woke up
Loud Brrrrr's, shivers and more later they are all in (minus sleeping number 4) they push past it and move about. They try to get a whirlpool going, splash each other, and get in trouble for moving the houses. #1 lasts the longest, the first to get in and the last to get out. I am pretty sure there are pictures of me on vacation swimming on a cold day like today. I know where he gets this from for sure!

10 minutes or hardly more after they begin stepping out. #3 who is stick thin bales, clearly freezing begging for a towel. #2 is next and has her towel ready near the ladder. #1 revels in his alone pool time just like the summertime would allow, then makes his way out. Everyone showers, gets warm again and in pj's. We eat dinner and then have 2 whole hours to kick back and be a happy family together. Who knew that was possible before school was out?
